4th Annual "Ready, Set, Grow! Infant to Kindergarten Family Fair
A SUCCESS!
This year over 6,000 children and families attended the Fourth Annual "Ready, Set, Grow! Infant to Kindergarten Family Fair hosted by United Way Success By 6®, in partnership with the Early Learning Coalition, Healthy Start Coalition and Sarasota Partnership for Children's Mental Health on Saturday, August 7, 2010.
The new location, Westfield Sarasota Square Mall, allowed parents to gather more educational resources while their children enjoyed interactive activities and live entertainment. The Fair is FREE and provides a safe, fun event for children birth to six years of age and their families to learn about information regarding health, recreation, child development, nutrition, personal safety, preschool and kindergarten readiness.
54 vendors (listed below) participated this year including Publix Super Markets, Regions Bank, Mommy Magazine, local arts Sarasota County Libraries and Sarasota County Parks and Recreation. Free healthy snacks for all children were offered by the School Board of Sarasota County and guests had the opportunity to tour the Sarasota Health Department "Health in Motion" mobile, Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System Neonatal Critical Care Ambulance, the Mote Marine Mobile Aquarium and the Suncoast Workforce Board's Mobile Career Unit. Live stage entertainment included the students of the Sarasota Ballet School, a Back-to-School Fashion show from Macy's, performers from the PAL Sailor Circus and much more. (see complete list below)
Children played with Therapy Dogs, recieved a child identification kit, made a snack at the Junior League "Kids in the Kitchen" booth and/or got a free child's bike helmet. A special feature this year was the BlockFest, an interactive area where children and parents learn by building with blocks of all different shapes and sizes.
