Shaun_Merriman.jpgUNITED WAY OF SARASOTA COUNTY CELEBRATES THE POWER OF PARTNERSHIP

United Way of Sarasota County celebrated our 2007 / 2008 fundraising campaign with a celebration event at Michael’s on East recognizing the power of partnership.

“Together, we have raised $3,081,000 to help people right here in Sarasota," said Shaun P. Merriman, Chairman, Board of Directors in an address to over 240 people.   "When we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all.  It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future.”

Kimberly Hopper of Regions Bank, 2007 / 2008 Campaign Chair, recognized 39 top performers in each division and 11 companies who engaged in new campaigns this year.

Over 150 companies were recognized for their involvement in the campaign.  Five communities involved in United Way’s new initiative directed towards Community Campaigns were also recognized.

Alexander L. Young, United Way President and CEO recognized community leaders and thanked event sponsors Regions Bank, Publix and the Herald-Tribune Media Group.

Young stated, “We all win when a child succeeds in school, when our youth can be involved in safe and productive activities, and when hard-working people, and their families, are given the opportunity to succeed in life . . . Our focus is on lasting, positive change, and when you Give . . . Volunteer . . . and Advocate for children and families . . . when we LIVE UNITED, we have the power to create change.

When we LIVE UNITED, we can change what we see in our world.”
