Over 350 donors, volunteers, and community service partners attended United Way’s 2010 Kickoff on August 27th.
Among the highlights were the annual Community Partner Awards presented to Gateway Bank, Sarasota Classified Teachers Association, and Kerkering Barberio & Co., CPA's for the outstanding community work they do in volunteering in key programs and for their active support of United Way.
As United Way Board Chair Bill Merrill said, “these organizations exemplify United Way’s work to advance the common good by focusing on Education, Income and Health … the building blocks for a good life based on a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health”.
2010 Campaign Chair Peter Norden, General Manager for Clear Channel Radio, introduced his team of volunteers and spoke to the importance of working together so that “we can help more of our neighbors, co-workers and friends in need”. (Click here to view photos)
